宋玉泉，男，中國(guó)民盟盟員，中科院院士，生于1933年6月12日（農(nóng)歷），1955年南開(kāi)大學(xué)物理系畢業(yè)。現(xiàn)已在超塑性的研究領(lǐng)域發(fā)表學(xué)術(shù)論文近70篇。講授14門(mén)課程，培養(yǎng)碩士13人，現(xiàn)有在讀博士生4人。
1955年-1979年，先后在吉林工業(yè)大學(xué)物理教研室、金相教研室、鍛壓教研室任教。1979年晉升為金屬塑性加工專(zhuān)業(yè)副教授。1985年晉升為金屬塑性加工專(zhuān)業(yè)教授。1987年任吉林工業(yè)大學(xué)應(yīng)用物理系兼職教授。1992年由國(guó)家教委評(píng)為博士研究生導(dǎo)師。1988年籌建超塑性研究室。1994年籌建超塑性及塑性研究所。1997年被評(píng)為中科院院士。兼任《中國(guó)科學(xué)》、《科學(xué)通報(bào)》、《機(jī)械工程學(xué)報(bào)》、《宇航學(xué)報(bào)》編委。曾獲國(guó)家自然科學(xué)四等獎(jiǎng)一項(xiàng)、國(guó)家教委科技進(jìn)步獎(jiǎng)一等獎(jiǎng)一項(xiàng)、國(guó)家教委科技進(jìn)步獎(jiǎng)二等獎(jiǎng)一項(xiàng)、機(jī)電部科技進(jìn)步獎(jiǎng)三等獎(jiǎng)一項(xiàng)。在研課題：國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金項(xiàng)目一項(xiàng)、博士點(diǎn)基金項(xiàng)目一項(xiàng)。
